Based on U.S. Census data between 2007 – 2009 Benton County had a higher percentage of individuals below the poverty level (20.3%) than Oregon (13.7%) and the United States (13.6%). Benton County also had a higher percentage of 18-64 year olds under the poverty level (24.0%) than Oregon (13.2%) and the United States (12.3%). The highest percentage below the poverty level for all three locations was mother single parent families, Benton County (25.9%), Oregon (29.7%), and the United States (28.6%).
