Benton County Commissioner

This office will appear on the May 21, 2024 Primary Election ballot. Major party candidates who are nominated in the Primary will appear on the November 5, 2024 General Election ballot.

Requirements for the office of County Commissioner:

  • Citizen of the United States at the time of taking office and for the length of time in office;
  • Resident of Benton County for at least one year prior to the time of filing for office and for the length of time in office;
  • Registered voter of Benton County at the time of taking office and for the length of time in office; and
  • At least 21 years of age at the time of taking office;
  • No other special qualifications or certifications required;
  • Term of office is four years;
  • If office is vacant, county appoints qualified person until successor is elected at next regular election.

Ranked Choice Voting is only used when a minimum of three candidates are nominated for the General Election, for the office of Benton County Commissioner.

  • Number of required valid signatures for Democratic candidates is 500.
  • Number of required valid signatures for Republican candidates is 242.
