Special Transportation Funds Available for 2019-21; Applications due Dec. 18
Wednesday, November 21, 2018
Funding from the State Special Transportation Fund (STF) and Federal 5310 Mobility for the Elderly and Individuals with Disabilities Programs is available for projects to maintain, operate and/or improve transportation services in Benton County for seniors 60 years of age and older and/or persons of any age with disabilities.
Eligible project applicants include public and nonprofit agencies for planning, capital, and operations projects.
The Benton County Special Transportation Advisory Committee (STAC) is responsible for reviewing service applications and recommending grant allocations to the County Board of Commissioners for the 2019-21 Benton County budget. Through the adopted Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan, the STAC and the Commissioners have identified preservation of existing services as the top priority for allocation of the County’s existing public transportation funds.
Application forms and additional information can be obtained from Lee Lazaro, Special Transportation Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 541-754-1748. The application deadline is 3:00pm, Tuesday December 18, 2018.
In 2017, the Legislature adopted HB 2017, creating a new payroll tax for statewide public transit improvements under the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF). It also established new processes for the oversight of these funds, as well as a separate solicitation process for projects. That solicitation process is expected to be underway in Benton County within the next 60 days, and eligible agencies will have an opportunity to separately apply for those funds. A separate announcement will be forthcoming regarding that solicitation.
