Fairgrounds initiates Master Plan process; Community Meetings on October 16 and 17
Friday, October 5, 2018
Benton County Fairgrounds, Corvallis, is launching a process to update the current facilities master plan. The updated master plan will help the County achieve the Fairgrounds’ mission to operate a community events center that serves residents and visitors. The master planning process will run through January 2019, with design and implementation phases to follow.
The Benton County Fairgrounds has been an important gathering place and location for public events in the County for more than 100 years. The buildings, utilities and grounds at the fairgrounds have suffered from years of deferred maintenance. The master plan will include a facilities plan that identifies new construction and needed improvements to existing buildings, and a comprehensive business plan that explores management options and provides an operational and maintenance budget, plus potential funding mechanisms.
Markin Consulting will be leading the economic analysis and public engagement portions of the master plan update. They will be hosting community meetings at the Fairgrounds on October 16th and 17th. The County welcomes members of the public to attend and provide input on the future of the Benton County Fairgrounds.
Community meetings will be held in the Auditorium building at the Benton County Fairgrounds, 110 SW 53rd Street, Corvallis, Oregon 97333, on Tuesday, October 16th, from 6:00 – 7:30 pm, and Wednesday, October 17th, from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.
The community meetings will provide an overview of the master plan update process, approach and timing. The public will have the opportunity to comment on community needs that could be met with facilities/services at the Fairgrounds, current uses and any related issues, other event/use potential for the Fairgrounds, and more.
An online survey will be available at www.bentoncountyfair.net starting November 1st for those who cannot attend the public meetings on the 16th and 17th but wish to share their thoughts as part of the master plan update process.
