Criminal Justice Assessment enters final phase

During the third phase of the criminal justice system assessment, Benton County hosted two community workshops to take a deeper dive into topics of particular interest to community members.

Roughly 50 members of the public attended and provided feedback on two workshop topics: Evidence-Based Approaches and Criminal Justice Best Practices, and the Local Jail and Incarceration Issues. Presentation materials from these workshops and previous community meetings are available online at co.benton.or.us/criminaljustice/page/assessment-timeline.

The fourth and final phase begins this month. Based on the data collected over the three earlier phases, CGL, consulting project director, will synthesize three solutions with varied components for a criminal justice system that better serves the public and inmates. These three solutions will be vetted by the public prior to the formal presentation to the Benton County Board of Commissioners.

The Draft Solutions Presentation and Community Meeting was tentatively planned for September 18, 2018, but will likely take place in early October. The venue, date and time will be announced shortly.
